What is the Indian Premier League?
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is an annual cricket tournament that is played in India. The IPL is the most prestigious cricket tournament in the country and is considered to be the equivalent of the English Premier League (EPL). There are ten teams that compete in the IPL. Each team is made up of a mixture of international stars and Indian players. The teams are divided into two groups, with the top team from each group competing in a play-off stage to determine who will qualify for the semi-finals. The final four teams compete in a single-elimination tournament to decide the winner. So far, eight different teams have won the IPL title. These teams are Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rajasthan Royals, and Gujarat Lions.
